Yamaha FZR 1000 Genesis on world-famous Nuerburgring Northloop - Nürburgring Nordschleife

Attention: This car earns respect! One of the best I ever had: Honda Civic

The Civic was fun: quick, reliable, lightweight, cheap, spacey. Drawback: rust in it's late years: a pity! The body went broke, while everything else was fine and good for many more years + laps. As You can see here I brought it to the Northloop, too. Believe me or not: I got standing ovations, there, several times, by onlookers! I did my first laps in the Civic, there: I started at 14 Minutes, first lap, the last laps were under 10. With just 90 PS/hp!

I tried to kill the engine several times without success overrevving it, and running it with only a few cc oil left in the engine. In the end the engine was good for several thousand more miles! I hardly had technical failure, one was the cylinder head gasket: That's about all.

A comparison: I'd estimate € 50 per lap for fuel, tyres, brakes in the S2GT. In the Civic it was about € 7 per lap.

A key position separating the men from the kids and the cars from the toys ist the Nuerburgring Northloop Foxtube Nürburgring Nordschleife Fuchsröhre: This is a steep passage downhill with a compression left corner at the bottom end, ascending to another left uphill. You want to brake in the compression left, but if You do You're dead. If You dont, You're dead 3 secs later. So you don't, and You live 3 secs longer. In the compression left we did 138 mph (220km/h) with the Porsche turbo and the Hohenester S2GT, and we could have gone faster if we'd have had more courage. The record-breaking Corvette ZR1 did 163 mph (260 km/h) there!!! Since it is a steep downhill slope I could do 125 mph (200 km/h) with the Civic, though the car had only a topspeed of 106 mph (170 km/h) regularly. I reached the speed with worn out dampers (shock absorbers), and I can now hardly believe it myself in this very moment I'm writing this down, but it was true. With more horsepower and good shocks I could have easily done 138mph - 220 km/h there with the Civic, too! Check this passage with Your Playstation 2 and GT4!
